Hi, my name is Matt and I work as a Staff Nurse on the ICU. I was brought up in a cycling household and have ridden bikes since I could. My favourite bit in The Great Escape is when James Coburn makes it to Spain on a bicycle. I'm truely excited about this upcoming adventure: a chance to raise a few quid whilst journeying up and down this land by bike couldn't be turned down. How the whole thing came to be is a little unclear in my mind, although I blame Kevin.... I suggest that you do the same.
Some time later.......

Greetings! Sorry for the lack of blogging. Big miles, big smiles. The mountains were glorious to be in. My heart is still up there. The wildlife has been varied And plentiful. The cows paddling in the sea made me grin! They wouldn’t let me join them though. Highlights are too numerous to list just now. Lowlights?
1. Being forced into the van by the worst weather and road conditions imaginable. To ride in that would have been dangerous. It did clear up later, and it was off to play, with a big climb, suicidal road crossing sheep and a healthy crosswind.
2. There was a hairy moment in Leith when it looked like they had run out of Wolf Blass Cabernet sauvignon. They hadn’t though and we survived. See you soon x

Two days, three hundred miles done… one or two miles left to do. We received a proper soaking today, especially me, as I left my waterproof in the van. Much to the amusement of my fellow riders! It’s all good fun. Loads to eat. Ben is doing us proud with egg sarnies, tea, and today we even had pot noodles… Only the best will do. The hills start tomorrow. Bring ‘em on! We’re going to thrash them to within an inch of their steep lives. And then eat some more. See you down the road…
